We are treating this like any other 'long weekend', with the possible
exception of some extra care on our 'end of year' backups, and our plans for
'proof of the pudding' system and applications testing on January 1.
Applications will be in their normal states for a holiday (offline or
inquiry only), on the New Year's Eve holiday Friday and New Year's day
Saturday, much the same as we will do for Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
For those users for whom Saturday is not a workday, nothing is different;
for those who work Saturdays, it will be treated as a holiday, except for
the 24 x 365 operations and production support staffs. These systems
normally allow access to the systems and applications support staffs who
will be testing Saturday. Hardware will be on, the OS will up running.
