The reference manual for 700/92 - 700/94 terminals is Manual
Part Number 5957-9982.
The esc sequences for switching between 80 and 132 column mode
are "Ec&w 6f 80X" and "Ec&w 6f 132X". This information is
found in Chapt. 4 of the manual.
Using esc sequences to get "status" information is found in
chapter 7 of the manual. The only thing I found related to
80/132 screen width is a one bit (on/off) status for "Multiple
screen widths". This bit is part of a 3 byte string returned
after issuing the "Terminal Capabilities" esc sequence -
"Ec*s-1^". A thorough explanation of this doesn't lend itself
well to an e-mail discussion. To determine whether or not the
device has this capability would require a binary AND against a
mask to isolate the bit and check it for on/off status. The
bit is bit 2 of the 3rd byte.
