Were you physically at the New York City store? That was quite a date...

I have kept ALL of my OM systems too. Those who attended the
hp3000 International Users Group Conference in Montreux (Switzerland)
in 1980 may remember the background for the Adager booth. I took
that picture (hiking on the hills above Antigua Guatemala) with an
Olympus OM-2 and had it enlarged via a 3M process to billboard size.
That was quite an elaborate technology in those days.

I am *generating* some cash with my Olympus e-1. In fact, I have already
been retained for a photographic commission in early December. I would
rather ask "would you like to smile or frown with that?" than "would
you like fries or onion rings with that?" For outdoor work, I prefer
to ask "would you like to have the mountain lion in the background,
or the bear, or the beaver, or the elk, or just some forest?"
Clicking away -- at the e-3000 keyboard as well as at the (very responsive)
Olympus e-1 shutter --, I remain an ardent fan of both technologies,
