Well, I have a few reasons:

  1) Concerns on the part of management about the stability of the posix
interface. Perhaps due in part to the fact that the first time I installed
the gnu compiler from jazz, it caused a system halt due to the streams bug
(which has since been fixed). Plus several other issues, including one that
took an HP Escalation Engineer and a third party vendor over 6 months to
resolve, that force me to go easy on posix apps. Kind of a guilt by
association thing.

  2) Single source of support with less chance of finger pointing.

  3) Budget politics. Need I say more?

  4) What Mark B. said. :>
