TURNING THE INTERNET OVER TO THE UNITED NATIONS?

Wow! This one popped up out of nowhere. I had no idea that there was a movement to turn the management of the Internet over to the UN. It seems that "developing countries" like Brazil, India, South Africa, China, Saudi Arabia and others want the Internet to be managed by national governments with international control ... United Nations control.

There is going to be a world information summit in Geneva next month. These countries were going to try to make the Internet management change at that time, but those plans have been shelved ... temporarily. As some say, however, it's now on the agenda.

Here's how this is going to come down. The countries that want the Internet managed by the UN are going to plead unfairness in the assignment of Internet names. That will be the cover under which UN control is sought. Once these national governments and the UN get their clutches on this wonderful information system can censorship be far behind?

Carefull, Neal Boortz is a self confessed Libertarian and has alot of different ideas and thoughts that I personally find questionable. His home page also carries a note:

ALWAYS REMEMBER
Don't believe anything you read on this web page, or, for that matter, anything you hear on The Neal Boortz Show, unless it is consistent with what you already know to be true, or unless you have taken the time to research the matter to prove it's accuracy to your satisfaction. This is known as "doing your homework."
