Thanks, Joe and Michael, for answering. Good to know that SAMBA will allow
encrypted passwords RSN.

So. With EnablePlainTextPasswords, NT first tries to send an encrypted
password, then, if that fails (with "System error 1240"?), negotiates down
to try unencrypted? Or just always tries unencrypted? That is the question
that the big guy asked me when I was showing him our 3000's shares in
Network Neighborhood and explaining our use of SAMBA/iX to him. The big guy
knows about SAMBA, and subscribes to the CERT bulletins... no fooling him.
Best I can hope for is finding an answer before he does.
