I don't think I did a good job of articulating my main point, which
is that hp's job is sell products which people buy and not to
solve any particular isv's problem.

I have taken hp to task many times over the last 20+ years I
have been using the hp3k as a preferred platform for not supporting
the hp3k enough and not providing enough support for the isv.
And yes, if you are a particular isv who needs as much help as possible
and prefer that environment then you should look seriously at all
the choices out there in the marketplace. The choice on platform
for an isv is much more than vendor support however. It also is
'the platform' which you have to find worthy of using for your
applications in the first place.
