Some of us, Alfredo Rego, Steve Cooper, Gavin Scott, Rene Woc included
believe that we should do something to show support for the HP 3000 at
HP World in San Diego. Does anyone have any great ideas?

I have spoken with Vance McCarthy at HP World magazine and he said that
he would consider devoting a "significant" portion of the August issue to
feature
the HP 3000 especially if the users come up with something interesting that
creates
excitement at the conference.

Here's our chance to put up or shut up folks<

What about some kind of "System Building" competition to build a
small-scale online
application from scratch using a standard set of tools or whatever. Work
from a standard
spec with three teams..

The HP3000 MPE/iX team
The UNIX team (HP9000 HP-UX)
The i386 team (Windows NT)

This idea probably sounds a bit silly but it could be the starting point
for a better idea. Any idea is
better than none. I know which team I'd put my money on...
