When you install Linux, you'll have several options. The best one is to
give Linux its own partition. If you do this, you'll be able to install
the Linux boot loader, LILO, and it will boot any bootable partition. You
can set the order arbitrarily. On my LInux boxes, I install a small DOS
partition, typically 20MB, so that I can boot DOS to run hardware
configuration programs and so on. The systems always boot into Linux
unless I intervene manually -- there's a configurable timeout at the boot
prompt, after which LILO loads the designated primary operating system
automatically.

Another thing you can do is install Linux in a DOS directory, and use the
LOADLIN program. This keeps you from having to create a special Linux
partition, but you'll be restricted to DOS-type file systems. You can put
LOADLIN in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file if you want to boot automatically into
LInux.
