Sambaix.com is indeed gone. It is listed as belonging to ACS, Inc
(Domains For Sale.)

The problem you are having is easily fixed by twiddling the registry to
tweak some form of password security. This was discussed quite a bit
several years ago when Windows 2000 was first introduced (1999-2000). I
do not remember the details, but a search of the 3000-L archives or the
FAQs, should readily yield the information you need.

It's quite a jump from NT 4 to Windows XP. :-)

Subject: [HP3000-L] SAMBAIX

Hi all listers,

First off has sambaix gone ( minute's silence :'( ) as the
www.sambaix.com
link doesn't take me to what I'm looking for anymore.

2nd question does anyone use it for sharing MPE folders within XP ? I
used
to use it on my old NT4 PC and it worked fine. Since upgrading the
machine
to Windows XP pro I can no longer map the drive, I can find the drive to
connect to and try entering the share name with password but it rejects
it
then tries to connect me as hpguest.

As the site's no longer around, unless it's moved I can't find any docs
on
the subject.

TIA

Nige...
