I don't have a suggestion on question letter 1), but on number b) I
would recommend Microsoft's Plus Digital Media Edition. It contains
about 10 applets, one of which is Photo Story. With this, you can link
photos, and video into a video story. You can pan and zoom across
photos, define the length of time spent per photo, add narration and or
music. It can then publish this in Window's Media format or into a video
CD.
I believe I bought this for $19 at Best Buy and for that one applet
alone I feel I got my moneys worth.
I have been scanning family photos of my Grandfather, to tell his story
of being the first Harley Davidson dealer in Salem Oregon, and his
efforts to show how respectable and economical motor cycling can be. He
closed his shop to got to war, reopening when he returned. And although
he only had an 8th grade education, he was so involved in his community,
with the school system and school board, there is now a school named
after him.
Good luck with your project,
Paul Scott

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: Looking for Software...
Thought I'd ask this list if anyone has experience with the software for
the following and can offer some recommendations (NOTE: inexpensive is
part of the criteria.. ;-)
1) Need some software to morph pictures. One of my kids is collecting
some early
to current pictures of senior band students with the idea of
having a picture show
at their year-end banquet and showing their baby/elementary
pictures morphing
into their current picture. I see where Broderbund is offering
their tool for $20.
Anyone have any experience with it?
2) She also needs something that'll take the digital pictures
(including the
morphing pics) and build something like a movie put to music,
hopefully with some
animations. Normally they use PowerPoint, but I'm wondering if
there is something
better. Potentially they want to copy this to DVDs or playable
CDs for the seniors...
Also, if you have something like this that you no longer use and would
like to donate it to the band program.... :-)
