Intuit had that kind of problem some years back ... their
support provider (I won't name them, but they've got 2 letters
in their name) left them high and dry. We spent several days
on site (spinning tapes, using Debug/iX, and writing a special
helper program) ... but we got all their files back, and kept
them in business. It was the second most satisfying support
problem we'd ever tackled.
