I dunno. Jeff may be right that they may be concerned about sub-letting of
the service to neighbors.
It seems to me that you are paying for bandwidth, not a number of users or
workstations (kind of sounds like tier pricing vs. user pricing doesn't
it?). My home DSL provider offers 5 unique addresses per DSL line via DHCP
and even encourages users to have more than one PC on their DSL in their
marketing. I believe they even mention that you can have more, but you are
on your own to provide the NAT hardware/software to do so and they won't
provide technical support. Further, they offer different rates for different
DSL speeds (768Kb or 1.5Mb) so they obviously are well aware that they are
selling the speed and not the user count.
Are there competing DSL providers in your area? I would think the fastest
way to get their attention is to cancel their service.
