You need to create a simple ASCII file like:
:fcopy from=autoboot.mpexl.sys;to=;char;hex
AUTOBOOT.MPEXL.SYS RECORD 0 (%0, #0)
0000: 7374 6172 7420 6E6F 7265 636F 7665 7279 start norecovery
0008: 0A00 2020 2020 2020 2020 2020 2020 2020 ..
0010: SAME: TO 0024-1
EOF FOUND IN FROMFILE AFTER RECORD 0
(I.e, "start norecovery" followed by a linefeed and/or a null ... I'm not
sure what's 100% necessary, but I know that the above file works :)
Then, in SYSGEN:SY, use the "AA" command to tell the system you want to
use that autoboot file, cut a new SLT tape, and UPDATE from it (ugh!).
That's the short-hand description of the official method. I generally
just poke the information into LIFDIREC (the LIF directory), but that's
riskier and harder to describe :)
