In golf tournaments, for example, if 2 tie for second place, they split the 
combined total of the 2nd and 3rd place money, and then the next golfer is 
4th and gets the 4th place money, etc.  After all, the 4th place golfer had 
3 scores better than his(hers), so that places them fourth.
