NEWS.COM reports of a bizarre problem with some Intel motherboards that
were shipped to system manufacturers in the first three weeks of October.

       "Some power supplies emit an electronic signal that actually
        reprograms the motherboard's flash BIOS, the device where the
        computer looks for the first instructions it needs to boot up."

The problem surfaces once you unplug the unit from the wall.  When you plug
it back in, the machine will not boot.
