Ahhh, one of my favorite subjects!  The answer is "buy as much memory as you
can afford,
there is no point of diminishing returns".  However, there is a place of
"adequacy".  You have
adequate memory if the following things are true:
 
1.  CPU Busy on memory management is less than 3-4 percent
2.  Memory cycles are less than 5-8 per hour
3.  Page faulting is less than 30-40 per minute
 
If *all* of these things are true, you have "adequate" memory.  As a general
rule of thumb, though,
I would think that 1024 megabytes would be enough for 300 users.
