Gavin,

To keep the storyline simple I left out the part about the FORMATVOL
command that was aborted accidentally. When this happened the drive was not
visible to VOLUTIL. I was all prepared to use ODE to reformat the drive
when I ran DISCUTIL from the IPL. After doing this the disc drive was again
visible to VOLUTIL even though I did nothing but invoke and exit from
DISCUTIL. IMVHO there has got to be *something* going on otherwise the
drive would not have become visible to VOLUTIL again. The question is what?

Respectfully,

Paul Courry
