Not 100 % sure, but my best guess is that the tape was created on a DDS-2
with hardware compression enabled and restore attempted on a DDS-1 drive
that either (1) does not do any hardware compression at all or (2) has
hardware compression enabled.
Another possibility is that you used a 120-m DDS-2 cartridge that can only
be handled by genuine DDS-2 drives (green label)
Action suggested :
1) Disable hardware compression on DDS-2:
:DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP 7 compression=disable (assuming your ldev# is 7)
2) Recreate the tape on DDS-2
3) Retry the restore on DDS-1
4) And refrain from using 120-m DDS-2 or 125-m DDS-3 cartridges. Only use
60-m or 90-m DDS-1 cartridges, with MRS (media recognition system) label.
