the program name is 'mmkeybd.exe'. i email hp and they said in typical
airhead speech:

"The reason your keyboard is trying to connect to the internet maybe
because the connection properties are set to use you default connection.

To change this go through the following steps:

1. Right-click on the Internet Explorer icon.
2. Go down to Properties.
3. When the Internet Explorer Properties window comes up, click on the
connection tab.
4. In the lower half of this window there is a list. Change "Always
dial my default connection" to "Never dial a connection".

This does not answer the question i asked them.

Oh well, i disabled the program 'mmkeybd.exe' from being able to access the
internet in zonealarm

Note: why do people asking valid questions seem to get attacked?

"What was the programs name that tryied to get to the net? I bet it
wasn't the keyboard you dope."

sheesh, take a pill!
