Patrick,

the "mount request" caused by FILE ;LABEL=xxxxxx does not
look like a question but it *can* be answered with a reply
in case you have no such labeled tape to mount but want to
write such a label onto an unlabeled tape mounted on some
LDEV of your system. You tell MPE this LDEV via the REPLY.

With labeled tapes there is no reply required when you mount
or already have mounted the properly labeled media somewhere.

By the way, MPE will not allow mounting *two* media with
identical labels on different LDEVs... The second LDEV will
go offline with no console message quickly after you put it
online...

So if you mount a labeled tape on LDEV xx, remove it (before
it has been accessed) and try to mount it on LDEV yy, it may
look as if the LDEV yy drive is damaged (won't go online).
