Notice that Java speaks Unicode and Java/iX 1.2.2 includes
converter classes for Roman8 and Roman9 (as far as I recall).
So if you're looking for more than the 7-bit ASCII section,
then Java with -Dfile.encoding=Roman8 might be useful...
