Hey, it could happen...
Customer Service Engineer for a software vendor gets a typical assignment: Set
up a lab test that reflects how well the software will run on the network of
this potential customer.
"Problem is," says CSE "the budget isn't there to purchase the equipment
required to reproduce the network. Also, the software this possible client uses
isn't available to the CSE, either.
"But the CSE's management team insists that CSE to do his best and report the
results immediately."
So he does -- and the final status report to the management team is short and
sweet:
"Emulated configuration and simulated tests confirmed hypothetical predictions."
