We had this problem on one of our 3000's. The problem turned out to be a
mismatch between how the ethernet port on the switch was configured -
100Mb Half Duplex - and the configuration of the card on the system, 100Mb
*Full* Duplex. This caused a huge number of collisions and correspondingly
low transfer rates. Correcting the switch port to match the network card
did the trick.

HTH,
Patrick

Subject: [HP3000-L] FTP speed

I have been using FTP on the HP3000 for quite some time. On my new
system, I am receiving results that seem unusual. I have no trouble
connecting to any box, and most boxes the transfer speeds are quite
acceptable. I have several Sun machines, however, that receive put
transactions at an extremely slow rate. They eventually complete, but
the rate is painfully slow. All the boxes are on the same segment, so
there are no leased lines, or other bottlenecks that I can see. Any
ideas on what might be causing this?
