It was after the Thurston High School shootings. Adults were trying
different methods to console the students of all the local High Schools and
programs geared for young adults.
The counselor's publicly funded organization would only allow these efforts
which aligned with Christian beliefs because of the parents. They had
received criticism from 90% of the parents when they attempted to
incorporate any Indian Drumming, Therapeutic Touch, or eastern methods.
Those parents who complained said they didn't want their children to be
exposed to that type of influence.
Maybe they have too many conflicting rules to live by, and couldn't fathom
how a gracious God, would allow a kid to shoot his parents and fellow
students.
