The tapes I was restoring from were from 1995...way before I worked
here.

You have the option of putting an additional directory on disc
that could be used to speed up restores and enhance the integrity
of the backup.

We used to use it. The complaint I had about it was that the directory
is stored on the end of the last tape of the backup set. I had to
restore some data for an audit. It took over an hour to restore one
file
and most of that time was finding the directory.

Hi Paul,
I use it, and works very good..
Example, it reduces my system's full backup time from 8 hours (STORE,
offline) to 1 hour and 45 mins moreover it's online.
Nice, isn't it?
Good day,
K. Mavi.

Is anyone using Backup+/iX supplied by Orbit Software?
I have read the literature about it but wondered how well it actually
worked
and the benefits/drawbacks, etc/
Thanks in advance!!
