Funny story about the 2640. We had a report that sorted on a field and could not understand why after "Z" were things start with "A", "C", etc. We used debug, used query to look in the database and these fields should have been in their proper place in the report
What was the issue?
The issue was this data started with lower case letters, but both the printer and the 2640 terminal always upshifted everything. When we used query with a 2645 which supported lower case, we went

We could only afford 2640 terminals. But essential as they supported a line drawing character set and block mode transmission to hp3000s The 2645A with tapes cost in the uk in 1978 about £2,500 - a lot of money in those days.
I scrapped the last one when I shut down the company. Only have a 700/95 beside me now and 2 A class 3000s powered off. Sad days.
