Greetings. I am new to this list and was hoping to get some *free* advice on
a problem I am researching for a client.

My client is running an aging application written in Powerhouse version 7.09
(soon to be upgraded to 7.29) using TurboImage on an HP3000, running MPE/iX.
The application is a Motor Vehicles information system.

The client would like me to find out if it would be possible to add digital
imaging to their application. Now, I can gather lots of information from
companies such as Polaroid and Datacard as to how to capture the images.

The question I have is how feasible is it to store and retrieve these images
on the HP3000? Based on my information, TurboImage is out of the question
since the largest data item is 4K.

From what I understand, my other HP3000 database choices are HP ALLBASE/SQL,
Interbase, or Oracle. First of all, does this sound correct?

Which of these databases would be preferable for such a data requirement?

Whatever solution is chosen, it is probably going to have to be the most
cost efficient (i.e. an expensive Oracle solution will likely be out of the
question). Also, if they can continue to use TurboImage for their existing
data, that would be best too.

I have no clue as to whether or not Powerhouse will be able to accommodate
digital imaging. Somehow, I doubt it!

I would appreciate any advice that people can provide. Thanks in advance.
