Hello Friends:

Wirt Atmar made this note in another thread about the new HP Solution
Provider Program (SPP) Web site: "If you already didn't know that the 918DX
program existed, you would never know it if this website was your only
source of information."

That would be due to the fact that the 918DX program has been discontinued.
In its place, SPP members can buy five models of HP 3000s at a 52 percent
discount. (You had to be an SPP member to buy a 918DX anyway -- this deal
extends the discount to four more powerful HP 3000s). The HP software
bundle stays in place. Support is still an issue, but now a developer can
pick it up a la carte for the HP software. Third party discounts on
software remain in place, too.

Doing the math makes the discounted 918 about $500 more than the 918DX --
but you can delete Allbase/SQL to get the price lower than the 918DX.

Wirt also said:

>I travelled down every link and was able to find only three or four scattered
>references to MPE/iX, but certainly nothing under the relevant pages that a
>first-time visitor would certainly choose ("specialized developer programs",
>"technical services", "equipment", etc.).

At the site's home page, I clicked on Equipment. One more click to
"Equipment Purchasing" gave me these paragraphs:

Equipment Purchase

To develop and demonstrate the attributes of your software application, you
require high-quality systems and tools. HP has created an equipment
purchase program for SPP members that includes:

Discounts up to 52 percent off list price are available on HP-UX
workstations and servers, MPE/iX servers, developer software packages,
peripherals, and maintenance support.
