Hi Mark,

You absolutely have to use C/iX. I do use it and it works.
Because our environment is cobol I wrote a programme to generate C-stubs =
that call the rpc-calls. The c-stubs are called by cobol. This works =
pretty briliant. I extended the idl format a little, so I could also =
define my cobol buffers there, so my copylib and c-stubs are generated =
every time the idl-file changes. I don't ever have to look at the c-code =
again!

I must say DCE/3000 is not a very stable product yet, and if you're in a =
hurry, don't, don't, don't even think about using it.

I really don't like the people who, during the past vew weeks, have been =
shooting at dce OBVIOUSLY without having any experience with the =
product. Facts, no fiction please.

Subject: Anybody using OSF DCE RPC under MPE?

Is anybody using the OSF DCE RPC facility under MPE? We're =
contemplating
an architecture here where a 3000 client must make RPC calls to an NT =
server.
I'd be interested to hear what you have to say, either good or bad about =
RPC.

I do have one specific question -- does C have to be used to call RPC, =
or can
any language on the 3000 do it?
