Looking at the statistics so far there is an interesting observation.
Before the announcement 24.14% of the all customers were considering
migration away from MPE, but if OpenMPE happens 89.66% of all customers
would stay with MPE, meaning only 10.34% would migrate. Ignoring the
announcement for a moment, this would imply that more companies would be
inclined to stay with MPE if it was not controlled by HP. One might be able
to make the argument that the end of the HP3000 was a self fulfilling
prophesy, whispered by HP many years ago. That the years of non-promotion
and treatment of MPE as the "unwanted step-child" was taking it's toll on
the user communities confidence, rather then their desire to stay with or
use MPE. But then, you know what they say about statistics :)

If your company has not yet completed the one-page survey, please do so at
www.TechGroupMD.com/OpenMPE.htm. We need to have as complete a picture as
possible on how the user community feels.
