Hmmm... there wouldn't happen to be an issue with "passive", would there?  Could there be a firewall blocking the "data" channel [for non-passive connections]?

This is kind of a "doc, it hurts when I do this..." statement -- from past discussions, there are plenty of FTP servers that "work" with the MPE client, and everyone that might respond will simply say "the one I use is preferred" ;)

The harder question to answer is, "what cross-platform (or otherwise) servers are sufficiently secure AND work with the MPE client?"  [I am presuming security is a concern, otherwise you'd be using the standard-supplied-with-windows FTP server]

Of course, I just realized, depending on what "fixpack" and/or particular version of win98 you have, you may not actually have an FTP server -- this WAS included (at one time) with the "personal web server", but it dissappeared at one point [even though installing PWS built an "ftproot" directory and the "management" screens implied an FTP server might exist...]
