This is strange indeed. You must have hit a bad batch of SCSI cards,
either that or there is a firmware issue with the SCSI cards themselves.
It might be good for you to post the part number of the SCSI cards and
the firmware revs of same.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Help: Mod 20, SCSI cards
This is one for the records.
I was installing two Mod 20's this weekend on two (2) machines.
Install worked fine, but when I tried to boot from the primary, it
failed
miserably.
I did all the tricks, to no avail.
Luckily, the first SCSI card had a failure light and I replaced it.
BAM, without having to do another install the system booted from the
disc!
I.E. The SCSI card did the WRITE but could not boot/read from the drive.
OK, bad stff happens.
On to the second system.
No failure lights, Install succeeds, but will not see boot partion.
Hmmm, it's
was becoming a long day. I checked the firmware and software revisions
(in
MAPPER), everything was ok.
So why not just try a new SCSI card? We put in the new SCSI card and
viola,
the system boots, without having to do a re-install. So the write
WORKED but
read/boot failed.
What's up? Do old SCSI cards not work with the MOD 20's?
Has anyone seen this before?
I am posting this so others who may run into it.
TIA,
-Craig
