Hello Craig,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thanks for responding!

The SMTP service is running on Albacore because I can use Sendmail to reach it from the same HP3000. The first two lines of the transaction appear to indicate that it is reaching albacore because it is returning the version number, connect time and that the server is ready to accept. It seems to fail on the handshaking.

I did try a second Microsoft SMTP server and had the same problem. I then tried a Sendmail SMTP server on another HPUX machine and the transaction proceeded correctly. So it appears that the Microsoft SMTP servers have special "feature" that is causing the failure.

Are there any JTMAIL updates available that may have addressed this problem?

Supporting documentation is contained at the end of this email.

Thanks for your help,

Steven Budke

Steve,

Do you have the IP address of "albacore"? I get 199.245.155.140, but that is external. You may want to try pinging it internally, or from the same LAN segment as the HP.

Next do a TRACERT.PRVXL.TELESUP to that IP address to determine the route.

Finnaly make sure the SMTP service is running on Albacore.

Hello,

I've installed JTMAIL and am getting the following error when I try to send
a message.

Albacore is our SMTP server.

I've tried calling JTMAIL in a command file, from POSIX, from MPE and the
timed out message always appears and no message is sent.

I am running version 1.1.2 of JTMAIL.
