Jon gave you 95% of the answer (and a very good general answer to this type
of question), so my addition may only state the obvious. But I seldom let
that stop me.
You will also want to run jobs for RESTORE and VSTORE. I believe that for
STORE and RESTORE, you can make file-equated NULL your target, so as to not
bother writing to anything, but you will probably want a very small STORE to
tape so you can VSTORE. VSTORE will require a tape. IIRC, all these
variables begin with TS_, so you can SHOWVAR [log in to unmask] That just shows you what
they are. When I learned about them thru an esteemed list member, I wound up
guessing their meanings from their names and values. I also contacted ITRC
nee HPRC, and begged. An engineer faxed me materials that probably should
have required an NDA, and which were clearly intended for hp internal use
(or so I was told). There was an SR to get this officially "supported",
which, so far as I could tell, would have meant little more than documenting
them (and perhaps the responsibility to make sure they continued to work).
You can also search the list archives on raven.utc.edu, and elsewhere, since
these have been discussed on-list. I for one would find follow-up questions
about specific variables interesting.
