  Back in the day... we had a bad system, after everyone gave up, they let me have the machine.   Everything, and I mean everything was pointing to a bad power supply... 
   
  For some reason I replaced the SCSI cable and the system booted a was fully functional.  We hung that SCSI cable at the "Tech Repair" station for about a year.
