If you're referring to Sendmail/iX (http://www.cccd.edu/~markb/sendmailix.html),
then yes, it's feasible.

The most common installation problem that people contact me about is DNS related
where the HP3000 running sendmail hasn't been defined within the organization's
DNS server.  But that's not sendmail's fault!  ;-)

If your 3000 has both an A record and a PTR record within DNS, you shouldn't
have any problems.
