I am assuming the dds2 drive is not working since you don't actually say
it. You say you are not getting the "Volume mounted on ldev 7" message.
Presumably, you have actually tried reading/writing from/to the drive.
A "brand new" DDS2 drive? Only if stored unused for many years, since it's
been quite a while since they've been manufactured.
In any case, new or not, that drive is notoriously unreliable, so it would
not be surprising it's not working.
