You are referring to Zell Miller.  You should be aware that he has been
ostracized from the Democratic Party.  He has been called a coward, a
turncoat, a traitor and much worse by the high priests of the DNC and
the media wing of the Democratic Party.  (If John McCain had been
treated one tenth as badly by the Republicans as Zell Miller has been by
the Democrats, the press would have made a huge flap over this.  In the
case of Zell Miller, they just pilled on.)

He is also retiring this year.

His book, A National Party No More: The Conscience of a Conservative
Democrat (ISBN: 0974537616) is well worth reading.

I guess the democrat out of Georgia thats speaking at the RNC does not
qualify as a "maverick". What is he?
