I'm really surprised at the very little news I've heard about this, but
since I have a number of employees in Kiev, it's a bit more
personal. Stick with this, the names are really similar.

Basically you have pro-west Viktor Yushchenko running against the Prime
Minister Viktor Yanukovich who is pro-Russia, who has also been to prison
twice and apparently has almost no education, not to mention little
incidents like his opponents accidently being poisoned.

So the international observers declared that their election a few weeks ago
was deeply flawed and needed to be corrected before the run off election a
few days ago, but they weren't. Our own Richard Lugar had some real choice
comments about how screwed up it is. So it seems that Viktor Yanukovich
got more votes in the eastern ukraine than there are registered voters. As
of now there are about 300,000 people on the streets of Kiev shutting the
city if not most of the country down. more are coming all the time from
around this country of 46 million. The army is gathering soldiers and
tanks. The current president and parliament aren't doing anything to
resolve it. If something doesn't give soon there is going to be a civil war.
