Don't know about NTm but for Windows (95 and 3.1) we use
a portable (plugs into LPT1) tape drive made by Omega with
software called QBACKUP.  There is a DOS version, so I put
that on my startup disk.  Like a 3000 Store tape, it keeps a
directory pf the files, so you can restore any file or the whole
disk.

Advantage - it works,

Disadvantage it is S L O W.
