If you don't have (or wish to use) MPEX you could play with this
regexp-like construct, [$--0-~], meaning one of '$' to '-' or '0' to '~',
i.e. one of all (HFS-valid) characters except '.', so that
listfile ./@[$--0-~][$--0-~][$--0-~][$--0-~]
should list all filenames (of at least 4 chrs) where there is no '.' in any
of the last four positions...
