"SCSI is SCSI" and "DDS is DDS" (except when it's DDS2 or DDS3).
Win98, at least in the SE incarnation, will PnP auto-detect common
SCSI adapters and DDS(x) drives and install the appropriate software.
Win98SE's native Backup app (actually a "light" version of the Seagate
product) will use the DDS(x) hardware.
