I did this a couple years ago, had it working, but Corporate nixed the idea
for some reason.
In fact if you look on some of the address datasets, like I think Provider
addresses in the PROV-ADDRESS dataset, have fields for Zip+4 and even the
Carrier Route. These were in preparation to go forward with the project
before it was cancelled.
I was getting a CD from a company called PostalSoft that would not only
return the zipcode for an address, but given a partial address would
complete it and format it to match the Post Office standards. I was passing
Reflections some commands that used DDE to retrieve the info from the CD
and then merging the data back into the VPlus form in the correct fields.
The user didn't even know that something was going on in the background.
Anyway, it was nipped in the bud....If you can ressurrect it, you might see
if PostalSoft is still in business. I think maybe it was a Pitney Bowes
company.
