Hello, all, time for my once a month on-topic post....

We have eliminated almost all of our terminals, but we have one person who
still uses a terminal to connect to the HP. This person connects via a DTC
that services two serial printers (256x). Of late, this person has been
complaining about her session "hanging" or, at least, extremely long
response times. Nothing in the application has changed lately, so I'm
wondering if it is a DTC or network problem. The connection from her
terminal to the HP is thus:

Terminal-->DTC
DTC-->Black Box media converter (BBMC) (10Base2 to 10BaseT)
BBMC-->Hub
Hub-->Fiber Optic Cable
Fiber Optic Cable-->Fiber hub (located across the way)
Fiber Hub-->10BaseT Hub
10BaseT Hub--> HP3000

The reason I suspect either the DTC or the network is that we had an issue
just yesterday where the DTC was unresponsive and both a power reset of the
DTC and a SYSDIAG>TERMDSM>RESET DTC n saw the download fail with a "network
manager" error. We finally got it to work by disconnecting and reconnecting
all the cables on this end and resetting the power on the media converter.
The reason for the media converter is that this DTC has only the coax
connector, so we convert it to 10BaseT and then connect to the hub.

So, how can I be sure what the culprit is here?
