Since I am not having much luck with the HP response center, The tech keeps
calling back after I am long gone for the day and is never available when I
call during working hours, I was hoping someone might have seen this.
I just recently completed the upgrade to MPE/iX 6.0 and am now playing with
samba shares, but have something strange occuring. I can create and use
public shares with no problem, but cannot figure out how to create a
password protected share using share level security. According to the log it
is correctly mapping my NT user name to my HP user.account, but rejecting my
password. I have enabled plain text passwords on my NT workstation to see if
this would solve the problem, but it has made no difference.
In addition, when I try to use SMBCLIENT on the HP3000 to access or list the
shares, it fails and tells me my server is being unfriendly.
Example :
shell/iX> bin/smbclient -L \\hp939ks
Session request failed (0,0) with myname=HP939KS destname=HP939KS
Unspecified error 0x0
Your server software is being unfriendly
But I can issue a net view command from my workstation and get the share
list.
Any help would be appreciated.
