Part of the HP Road Show I reported on earlier dealt with this very
subject. I skipped over it because it didn't mean anything to me.
It seems that EMC wanted more than HP was willing to give, so HP
went with HDS instead. The HP speaker said that EMC wanted control
of the server; that is, EMC wanted HP to use only their software
to access the EMC storage. HP is tending toward the "open system"
concept where you can connect any box to any peripheral using any
software and therefore went with a more "open" hardware vendor.
