The setting will be there even if you power down the drive and restart
it. To change the behavior, you will have to run DEVCTRL with the
reverse setting.

Deny

The good news is that it fixed the problem. Now the green light is on
after the tape has completed.

I got this error:

DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP 27 EJECT=ENABLE LOAD = ONLINE

Eject Control not supported by this device

I removed the EJECT=ENABLE, and the device now works properly.

I mounted the tape manually and when it completed that green light is
now on and the yellow off. Must be flash ram.

I appreciate the help.

They say that memory is the second thing to go. I forget what the first
one is, of course.

Kent, I was wrong; you are not looking for dip switches, that is for
something else.

What you need to do is issue the following MPE command:

:DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP ldev EJECT=ENABLE

Where ldev is the device number of the DLT drive.

This command invokes DEVTOOL which will permanently set the option the
way you want it. If you ever want to change it later, use the same
command with EJECT=DISABLE.

This should unload and eject the DLT cartridge.

I recently had my DLT 8000 replaced with a new one from HP. After the
new device completes backup and VSTORE, the "IN USE" light remains
on(yellow)?

A showdev shows the device as not in use.

The green light is not on? Is there something I need to do? It bothers
the operator to dismount(unload) a tape in use.
