Hi Everyone,

I know this may sound a little "obvious" but has anyone actually benchmarked
IMAGE/SQL against any other databases and if so what were the results?

In other words : I hear a lot of people say that IMAGE is faster than other
databases but have yet to see it proved.

TIA.

Mark W.

Hello Friends:

Our thanks to Wirt Atmar for pointing out the HP 3000's prominent
position in the archive timeline at the corporate Web site:

http://www.hp.com/ghp/features/invent/timeline/timeline.html

We agree with Wirt, the phrase "for it's day" needs to be removed
from the description of the 3000's performance, since IMAGE/SQL lets
the machine run circles around systems chugging along with other
databases.

The inclusion of the 3000 in this timeline is remarkable, as
remarkable as the overall tone and feeling of the new HP campaign.
(Check out the "Flash Intro" from the corporate Web site's lead page.
It's a message I've never seen from HP -- and the commercial that ran
alongside the Fiorina speech at Comdex was pretty neat too, promoting
balance in our lives vs. work, and how HP products might help give us
time to achieve that. I liked "What should we invent today?")

But what was remarkable about the HP 3000's appearance on the
invention timeline is that no other computer platform introduced
after the 3000 -- not 9000s, or NetServers, or PCs -- made the cut. I
think it says a lot about HP's innovation while creating the 3000.
