Craig,

The 979/x00 series had 180 MHz CPUs. The 989/x00 series had 200 Mhz, and
the 989/x50 series had 240 MHz. I don't remember the x20 series speed.

I don't have the info handy, but I think the main limiting factor on
backplane I/O is the HP-PB, which is 32 Mbytes/sec (peak). I'm pretty sure
it's the same for all systems in the 9x9 series. I doubt you'd see much of
an I/O improvement between the 979 and 989 systems.

David

Please respond to Craig Lalley

Sorry for the on-topic discussion....

I know someone on the list has this information in their brain.

I know that the 979 has 180Mhz CPU's and the 989KS has 240 Mhz CPU's.

But my question, is the backplane any faster on the 989, if so, how much
faster, and would there be any improvement in I/O?

TIA,

-Craig
